Professor Joan B. Rose is the Homer Nowlin Chair in Water Research at Michigan State University and serves as the Director of the Global Water Pathogens Project.

She is an international expert in water microbiology, water quality and public health, publishing more than 300 manuscripts. She is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and in 2016, Dr. Rose received the Stockholm Water Prize for recognition of the state of art science through original research, effective legislative support, education of practitioners that have enhanced clean water and health of the world.
