Sarah Cahill

Senior Officer, Secretariat of the Codex Alimentarius Commission

A microbiologist by training, Sarah Cahill has  over 20 years experience working in the area of food safety.  She worked in the dairy and beverage sectors before moving to FAO and she recently worked on the provision of scientific advice as the lead of the FAO Secretariat to the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meetings on Microbiological Risk Assessment (JEMRA). Two years ago she joined the Secretariat of the Codex Alimentarius Commission as a Senior Officer where her portfolio includes improving engagement in Codex standards setting processes and promoting recognition and use of Codex standards as well as supporting technical areas of work such as antimicrobial resistance.

The conference debates and results will contribute to achieving the objectives of the thematic areas – “Groundwater in a Changing Environment” and “Education Key to Water Security” – of the 8th phase of the UNESCO IHP programme on “Water Security: Responses to Local, Regional, and Global Challenges.
